- I see you! I got this shot of this little cutie the other day. This is one of last years red deer calves. It's made it half way through its first winter, and was in pretty good condition. Red deer hinds don't breed every year, stags have to go through the rut and don't start until they are around 5 years old. They behave differently in their breeding habits depending on whether they are from woodland or open Hill populations. Some will live long lives up to 18years old. As the UKs largest land mammal the Red Deer definitely has its place in Scotland’s Big 5. #scotland #highlands #mytiso #deer #wildlife #canon #photography #keeppushing #neverstopexploring #bonecaves Canon 7d, f/6.3, 1/160 sec, iso-1000
